Defending his goal line and his country is what Senior Airman Jordan Gourley does by balancing his Air Force days and his nights practicing with the semi-pro Kaiserlautern Pikes American football team.
The Pittsburg native works in the munitions storage area on the far side of the runway at Ramstein. Airman Gourley spent his time playing American football throughout prep school and high school. Being a highly recruited player from his hometown, he made a big decision to join the Air Force rather than pursue his football career.

The highly motivated Kaiserslautern PIKES Juniors awaited the arrival of the Pforzheim/ Ostalb (Panthers/Highlanders) American Football Association who showed up with a reduced cadre due to many injured players.
Almost 200 fans found their way to the Schulzentrum Sued to the Juniors second home game, which was played at the same time as the PIKES Seniors game in Freiburg

 AFTER MONTHS OF ANXIOUS waiting, The Pikes football April to September season is finally here. No one knows what to expect of the Pikes this season. They were not able to fulfill the expectations laid out for them in 2007; yet despite minor setbacks the board is extremely optimistic about the new recruits and veteran players who just found their game too late last season.
The clubs immediate task for
2008 is to prevent the minor disappointments of 2007, senior Pikes
ending the season in 4th place in the division and the cancellation of
the Cheerleading championships for which the Pikes Cheerleaders were
the host team; from overwhelming the positives of the season.
